Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the relation between the expression of bcl-2 and p53 in gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GIST).
Methods: The expression of bcl-2 and p53 was detected in 53 cases of GIST by immunohistochemical technique, and the data was analyzed statistically.
Results: The expression of bcl-2 and p53 in GIST was not significantlt different between the male and the female(
P>0.05);There was no statistical significance between diameter and karyomitosis of GIST in these cases(
P>0.05);There was no statistical significance between the expression of p53 and the malignancy of the GIST(
P>0.05);There was statistical significance between the expression rate of bcl-2 and the malignancy of the GIST(
P<0.01);There was statistical significance between the expression level of bcl-2 and the malignancy of the GIST(
P<0.05);There was no statistical significance between the expression level of p53 and the malignancy of the GIST(
P>0.05).
Conclusions: Over expression of bcl-2 indicates the malignancy of GIST.Therefore,bcl-2 may act as a reference index in assessing the malignancy degree of GIST.The expression of p53 has no correlation with the formation, occurrence and development of GIST.Its expression is relatively low and nonspecific, and is of little value in judging the malignancy degree of GIST.
