Abstract:
Objective: To explore the effects of cyclophosphamide combined with large doses of methylprednisolone on the serum level of matrix metalloproteinase 9(MMP-9) of patients with paraquat poisoning.
Methods: Fifty patients with acute paraquat poisoning were treated with cyclophosphamide combined with large doses of methylprednisolone on the basis of additional treatment. The levels of serum MMP-9 in all patients were detected before and after treatment.
Results: Compared with before treatment, the serum levels of MMP-9 in patients decreased significantly after treatment(
P< 0.01).
Conclusions: The treatment of cyclophosphamide combined with large doses of methylprednisolone can effectively reduce the serum levels of MMP-9 in patients with paraquat poisoning, which maybe one of the mechanisms of reducing lung injury.
