Abstract:
Objective: To explore the effect of urethral canal lengthening in rectification of female pseudoherma phroditism.
Methods: Eight cases of female pseudoherma phroditism received traditional clitorisplasty, pudendum plasty of the greater and lesser lips,or vagina inferior segment plasty in accordance to the abnormities. As the cases were featured by shorter urethral canal, local mucous membrane tissues were used for the repair and lengthening of the urethral canal.
Results: The operation was successful in all the 8 cases. The urethral canal was extended from the original length of 1.5-2.5 cm to 3.5-5.5 cm,and the external orifice of urethra was restored to normal position.
Conclusions: On the basis of traditional procedures for female pseudoherma-phroditism diorthosis, urethral canal extension with autologous tissues can not only restore the anatomic and physiologic function of the cunnus, but reduce the patients' discomfort in sexual life as well as the probability of repeated urinary tract infection and other complications.
