Abstract:
Objective: To enhance the awareness of pulmonary complications of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(AIDS).
Methods: Eighteen cases of confirmed AIDS were analyzed.
Results: The clinical manifestations of the 18 cases were fever,loss of weight,tiredness,cough and sputum.Among the 18 cases,9 had pneumocystis carinii pneumonia(PCP),7 bacterial infection,6 fungal infection,and 5 tuberculosis.The patients were complicated with skin infection,mouth infection and impairment of many other organs.
Conclusions: Pulmonary infection is a major opportunistic infection for AIDS patients at late stage.The most commonly seen were PCP and bacterial infection and then fungal infection and tuberculosis.These patients are often complicated with multi organ-impairments.
