Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the effects of the nickel-chrome(Ni-Cr)alloy porcelain crown,Co-Cr alloy porcelain crown and Zirconia all-ceramic restoration on periodontic tissue health.
Methods: Fifty-eight patients were divided into the nickel-chrome(Ni-Cr)alloy crown restoration group(25 cases, group A),cobalt-chromium(Co-Cr)alloy crown restoration group(21 cases, group B) and Zirconia all-ceramic crown restoration group(12 cases, group C).The gingival bleeding index, plaque index(PLI),periodontal probing depth(PD)and gingival crevicalar fluid(GCF)and level of interleukin-8(IL-8)in gingival crevicalar fluid in three groups were detected after half a year of treatment.
Results: There were no statistical significance in the PD and PLI between before and after half a year of restoration in three groups. The gingival bleeding index, amount of GCF and level of IL-8 in gingival crevicalar fluid in group A and group B increased after restoration(
P<0.01).The difference of each indictor in group C between before and after restoration was not statistically significant(
P>0.05).The difference of the amount of gingival crevicalar fluid between group A,and group B or C was statistically significant(
P<0.01),the difference of the amount of gingival crevicalar fluid between group B and group C was not statistically significant(
P>0.05).The level of IL-8 in group A after restoration significantly increased compared with the group B and group C(
P<0.01),and the difference of the level of IL-8 between group B and group C was statistically significant(
P<0.05).
Conclusions: Three material restorations have a certain adverse influence on periodontic tissue, and the adverse effect of Zirconia all-ceramic restoration is minimum.
