Abstract:
Objective: To explore the expression of survivin and its correlation with Bcl-2 in esophageal cancer.
Methods: Forty esophageal cancer's samples,12 samples of normal esophageal tissues adjacent to esophageal cancer and 9 esophagitis samples were collected,and immunohistochemical SP method was used to detect the expression of survivin and Bcl-2 protein.
Results: Positive survivin protein expression was detected in 82.5% esophageal cancerous tissues,which was significantly different from that of the esophageal tissues adjacent to esophageal cancer and the esophagitis tissues(
P<0.005).Survivin protein expression was detected in esophagitis with atypical hyperplasia,and the expression of survivin was not related to its differentiation degree or the patients' age(
P>0.05).The expression of survivin in esophageal cancer was correlated to that of Bcl-2(
P=0.030).
Conclusions: The expression of survivin in esophageal cancer tissue is up-regulated,but has no association with its pathology type or differentiation degree.survivin protein is correlated to the expression of Bcl-2.The expression of survivin is detected in esophagitis with atypical hyperplasia,which indicates that survivin may participate in the genesis of esophageal cancer and play a role in the progress of esophageal cancer.
