Abstract:
Objective: To explore the value of the expression of survivin gene in auxiliary diagnosis of gastric cancer.
Methods: The gastric carcinoma tissues and the neighboring noncancerous tissues of 49 cases with histologically verified gastric carcinoma were obtained. The survivin mRNA level was measued by RT-PCR and the protein expression of survivin was detected by immunohistochemical assay.
Results: Survivin mRNA proved positive in 65.3%(32 cases)of the gastric cancerous tissues and 63.3%(31cases)of the protein respectively. In contrast,no expression of survivin was detected in the corresponding noncancerous tissues. The expression of survivin gene detected by RT-PCR was a bit higher than IHC,with no statistical significance(P>0.05).
Conclusions: The expression of survivin in gastric cancerous tissues is up-regulated.Detection of survivin gene by immunohistochemistry or RT-PCR would be a new method in diagnosis of gastric cancer.
