Abstract:
Objective: To explore the clinical effects of reconstruction of maxilla defects with buccal fat pad and radial forearm flap.
Methods: Six cases of maxilla defects were reconstructed using buccal fat pad and radial forearm flap. The clinical effects were evaluated by the vitality of the flap, and the function of speech, swallowing and breath.
Results: All the flaps were alive. No hindrance to speech, swallowing or breath was observed.
Conclusions: It is a good method to reconstruct the defects of maxilla with buccal fat pad and radial forearm flap, which greatly improves the life quality of the patients.
