Abstract:
Objective: To explore the effects of amnion transplantation for patients with pterygium.
Methods: Pterygium excision and amnion transplantation were performed to cure primary pterygium or amnion transplantation and limbus corneae autograft were adopted with recurrent pterygium in total 19 eyes.All the patients were followed up for 6 to 12 months to observe the changes of the corneal epithelium and the amnion after the amnion transplantation.
Results: Corneal epithelium recovered fine.No acute rejection and blepharosynechia were observed.No relapse occurred.
Conclusions: Amnion transplantation is a kind of simple, safe and effective surgery for pterygium.
