Abstract: Objective: To explore the clinical outcome and treatment of femoral neck fracture in the elderly by bipolar artificical femoral head replacement.Methods: Thirty-five elder patients (average 74.4 year.) with femoral neck fracture were treated by bipolar artificial femoral head replacement from April 2001 to October 2004.Results: The patients were followed up for 6 to 40 months.According to Harris standards,the results were excellent in 23 cases,good in 8 cases and medium in (4 cases).Conclusions: The results suggest that bipolar artificical femoral head replacement is secure and feasible for treatment of femoral neck fracture in the aged.
