Abstract:
Objective: To observe the effect of sodium ibandronate on bone pain and ameliorating physical motion of cancer patients with bone metastases.
Methods: Thirty-five cancer patients with bone metastases were administrated 2 mg AIBEN every 2 to 4 weeks and twenty-five cases received chemotherapy or radiation.
Results: The total effective rate of bone pain relief was 85% (30/35),with better results for breast cancer and multiple myeloma. The effect was more obvious when accompanied by chemotherapy or radiation.Seventy-seven 77% of the cases obtained good physical motion and 3 cases demonstrated complete response on screening.
Conclusions: Ibandronate can effectively relieve bone pain caused by neoplasm metastasis and improve the physical motion of the patients.
