Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the effect of gastric pacing on gastric electrical activity in patients with gastric dysrhythmias.
Methods: Thirteen patients with gastric dysrhythmias were examined with electrogastrography (EGG),and their symptoms were assessed before and after gastric pacing treatment.
Results: The patients'symptoms were significantly improved after gastric pacing treatment. The total response rate was 90.05%.The percentage of preprandial normal slow wave before and after treatment was (41.9±16.9)% and (46.9±21.6)%(
P>0.05) respectively, with no statistical difference. The percentage of postprandial normal slow wave before and after treatment was (57.5±28.6)% and (78.7±16.6)%(
P<0.05) respectively,with significantly statistical difference.
Conclusions: Gastric pacing could improve gastric electrodysrhythemia and ameliorate symptoms in shorttime for patients with gastric motility disorders.
