Abstract:
Objective: To determine the serum cardiac troponin I(cTnI) levels of patients with chronic congestive heart failure(CHF) and to investigate its relationship with cardiac function, left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF) and serum creatinine(Cr).
Methods: The serum cTnI and serum Cr concentration of 118 cases of CHF and 20 controls were detected.According to the cTnI level, the patients with CHF were divided into two groups.
Results: The serum cTnI level of patients with CHF was significantly higher than that of the controls(P<0.05).Similar findings were observed in all the patients with CHF between cardiac function Ⅱ,Ⅲ and Ⅳ(P<0.01).The Cr level of patients with CHF was higher than that of the controls(P<0.001);And Cr concentration in the group of cTnI-positive was increased compared with that of cTnI-negative(P<0.001).No correlation was found between cTnI concentration and Cr level in the group of CHF(P>0.05).
Conclusions: Serum cTnI concentration is closely related with CHF,which can act as an assisted predictor for the prognostic evaluation of CHF.
