Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the relationship between 24 h ambulatory blood pressure and myocardial performance index(Tei index) in elderly patients with hypertension.
Methods: A total of 100 outpatients with hypertension for the first diagnosis were divided into the Tei ≥0.40 group(
n=43) and Tei <0.40 group(
n=57).The parameters of blood pressure in consultation room,24 h ambulatory blood pressure and echocardiography between two groups were compared.
Results: The 24 h,daytime,nighttime average systolic blood pressure(SBP) and diastolic blood pressure(DBP),and 24 h,daytime,nighttime systolic and diastolic blood loads in Tei ≥0.40 group were significantly higher than those in Tei <0.40 group(
P<0.05 to
P<0.01).The differences of the average systolic and diastolic blood pressures in consultation room between two groups were not statistically signifiant(
P>0.05).
Conclusions: The level of 24 h ambulatory blood pressure is the related to the overall function of the heart.
