Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the clinical effects and features of Medpor in the repairment of orbital blowout fracture(BOF) and compound fracture.
Methods:The position and size of orbital fractures in 23 patients were identified using the high resolution CT scan and 3-D reconstruction. The degree of enophthalmos was measured using Hertel exophthalmometer, the diplopia was analyzed using synoptophore, and Medpor was used as the major orbital grafting material. The patients were followed up for 6 to 12 months.
Results:Within the following up for more than 6 months,21 cases(95%) were completely corrected among 22 cases with enophthalmos more than 2 mm,12 cases(85%) were completely corrected among 14 cases with diplopia, and 10 cases(90%) recovered normal among 11 cases with movement limitation of eyeball before operation. The differences of the degrees of enophthalmos, movement limitation and deplopia between the postoperative 2 weeks,3 months and 6 months were statistically significant(
P<0.05).
Conclusions:As a new plastic surgery material,Medpor can be used to repair the orbital fracture, and effectively correct the moderate to severe enophthalmos and diplopia.
