Clinical characteristics analysis of 24 COVID-19 patients with chronic metabolic underlying diseases

      Abstract:
Objective To analyze the effects of the chronic metabolic underlying diseases on corona virus disease 2019(COVID-19), and explore the possible measures to predict and ameliorate COVID-19.
Methods The basic diseases, clinical manifestations and laboratory examinations in 24 normal and severe COVID-19 patients complicated with chronic metabolic basic diseases were analyzed retrospectively.
Results The COVID-19 patients were mostly associated with chronic metabolic basic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, and most patients in the severe group were associated with a variety of basic diseases with aggravated symptoms, which might be complicated by bacterial infection and myocardial injury. The incidence rate of chest distress and reduction rate of albumin in severe group were higher than those in normal group(P < 0.01 and P < 0.05).
Conclusions The COVID-19 is a rapid-developing and variable disease.During treatment, it is important to pay close attention to the development and changes of patients' chronic metabolic basic diseases and prevent the occurrence of bacterial infection and myocardial injury, which is of great significance to promote the patients' recovery.
