Expression levels and clinical significance of TRAIL and PGRMC1 in fetal membrane tissue of pregnant woman with premature rupture of membranes

    • ObjectiveTo investigate the expression levels and clinical significance of tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis inducing ligand (TRAIL) and progesterone receptor membrane component 1 (PGRMC1) in fetal membrane tissues of pregnant woman with premature rupture of membranes (PROM).
MethodsSixty pregnant women treated with cesarean section because of full-term PROM to stop the pregnancy in obstetrics department were set as the PROM group. After delivery, the chorioamnionitis (CAM) in PROM group were identified using placenta pathological examination.Sixty healthy pregnant women treated with cesarean delivery in the same period were set as the control group. The expression levels of TRAIL and PGRMC1 protein in fetal membrane tissues were detected using the immunohistochemistry and Western blotting, and analyzed using statistical method.
ResultsThe TRAIL and PGRMC1 were mainly expressed in chorion and decidua layers of membranes.Compared with the control group, the positive expression rates of TRAIL and PGRMC1 in fetal membrane tissues in PROM group significantly increased and decreased, respectively (P < 0.01).The relative expression levels of TRAIL and PGRMC1 protein in fetal membrane tissues in PROM group significantly increased and decreased compared with the control group, respectively (P < 0.01).The differences of the positive expression rates of the TRAIL、PGRMC1 in fetal membrane tissues of PROM pregnant women with or without CAM were not statistically significnat (P>0.05).The relative expression level of TRAIL protein in patients with CAM was significantly higher than that in patients without CAM (P < 0.01), while the relative expression level of PGRMC1 in patients with CAM was significantly lower than that in patients without CAM (P < 0.01).
ConclusionsThe expression levels of TRAIL and PGRMC1 proteins in fetal membrane tissues of PROM pregnant women are high and low, both play an important role in the pathogenesis of PROM, and are related to CAM, which can be used as a reference index for clinical examination and diagnosis.
