    Effect of the education of sexual knowledge on quality of life and sexual function in young and middle-aged male patients treated with percutaneous coronary stent implantation

    • ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of the education of sexual knowledge on quality of life and sexual function in young and middle-aged male patients treated with coronary percutaneous coronary stent implantation.
      MethodsSixty-two young and middle-aged male patients treated with percutaneous coronary stent implantation were randomly divided into the control group and observation group.The health education of coronary heart disease-related knowledge was implemented in control group, and the knowledge of coronary heart disease and sex life safe were regularly released to the observation group using WeChat based on the control group.The quality of life in two groups after 3 months of operation were investigated using the World Health Organization Quality of Life Measurement Scale (WHOQOL-BREF), the sexual life in two group from the third months after operation was investigated, and the sexual function in two groups was evaluated using the International Assessment of Erectile Function (IIEF-5).
      ResultsThe differences of the quality of life (including psychology and social relations fields) after 3 months of percutaneous coronary stent implantation were statistically significant (P < 0.05 and P < 0.01).The number of patients starting sexual life in observation group after 3 months of operation was higher than that in control group (P < 0.05).The number of patients with erectile dysfunction in observation group was less than that in control group (P < 0.05).
      ConclusionsThe education of sexual knowledge in young and middle-aged male patients treated with percutaneous coronary stent implantation can improve the quality of life, start sexual life earlier and reduce erectile dysfunction.It is worthy of clinical promotion.
