    Reasons for misdiagnosis of palpation-negative breast cancer:an analysis of 23 cases

    • Objective:To improve the diagnosis of breast cancer by analyzing the reasons for misdiagnosis of palpation-negative breast cancer.Methods:Twenty-three cases of palpation-negative breast cancer confirmed by pathology were analyzed retrospectively, and the reasons for misdiagnosis were summarized.Results:Of the 23 cases misdiagnosed, 16 cases were proved to have mammary gland ill hyperplasia, 4 cases mammary gland hyperplasia with tumor formation trend, 1 case had postoperative scarring nipple eczema, 1 case Nipple eczema and 1 case breast intraductal papilloma.The misdiagnosis occurred 3 months to 1 year before confirmation.Conclusions:The features of palpation-negative breast cancer are usually not typical.Clinicians should heighten vigilance and use timely or jointly proper inspection methods to improve the diagnosis accuracy of breast cancer.
