    The effect of fasting on serum adiponectin secretion in different visceral-fat rats

    • Objective: To study the role of adiponectin in energy metablism through observing serum adiponectin secretion during different fasting periods in different visceral-fat rat models.Methods: The obese and weight-loss rat models were established through high fat diet and lowest energy diet,visceral-fat volume was tested with Spiral-CT.Then the rats were divided into normal,lean and obese groups according to visceral-fat volume.Serum adiponectin levels were analyzed by radioimmunoassay during different fasting periods.Results: There was negative correlation between serum adiponectin concentration and visceral-fat volume(P<0.01).The secretion of serum adiponectin was decreased with fasting time,obviously decreased after fasting 72 hours.However,in obese rat which the visceral-fat volume was exceeded 9%,the secretion of serum adiponectin was increased in fasting 24 hours,and then decreased after fasting 120 hours(P<0.05).Conclusions: There was the close relationship between adiponectin secretion and visceral-fat volume.Adiponectin may also be an important signal in energy homeostasis.
