    Diagnostic value of multi-detector row spiral CT and MRI in the intra-abdoninal type aggressive fibromatosis

    • Objective: To investigate the multi-detector row spiral CT(MDCT) and MRI features of the intra-abdoninal type aggressive fibromatosis(AF) and its diagnostic value.Methods: The clinical data of 8 patients with intra-abdoninal type AF diagnosed by pathology and their MDCT and MRI imaging features were retrospectively analyzed.Results: The separate incident in 7 cases and multiple incident in 1 case were found.Three cases in mesentery,2 cases in abdominal cavity,1 case in splenic flexure of colon,1 case in pelvic cavity and 1 case in retroperitoneal space were determined.Five cases and 3 cases of AF were round and irregular,respectively.Local boundaries were unclear or less clear,adhere with the adjacent vessels,mesometrium and organ adhesions.The CT imaging showed that the tumor density was uniform or uneven,close to the muscle density and progressive enhancement.The flake unreinforced region was found.The T1 weighted image signals of lesions were similar,iso-intensity or slight with muscle,the T2 weighted image and diffusion weighted imaging signals of lesions were uneven and slight hyperintensity,progressing and heterogeneous moderate or obvious enhancement,which was more obvious than CT.The strip and sheet-shaped low intensity area in T1 weighted image and T2 weighted image signals without enhancement or mild delayed enhancement were found.The compressed and invasive adjacent structures and the vascular change could be observed by the post-processing of MDCT and MRI.Conclusions: MDCT and MRI can show the important pathological changes of intra-abdoninal type AF.The image findings has certain characteristics,which has important diagnostic value for AF.
