Treatment of the severe bifrontal contusion with double frontal decompressive craniectomy through coronal incision in 21 cases

    • Objective:To explore the curative effects of double frontal decompressive craniectomy through coronal incision in the treatment of severe bifrontal contusion. Methods:The data of 21 patients with severe bifrontal contusion treated with double frontal decompressive craniectomy through coronal incision and without retaining frontal bone bridge were retrospectively analyzed. Results:All patients were followed up for 1 year.Nineteen cases survived,2 cases died.Excellent in 11 cases(52.3%),light disability in 5 cases(23.8%),heavy disability in 3 cases(14.2%) and death in 2 cases(9.5%) were found according to the Clasgow outcome scale. Conclusions:The curative effects of double frontal decompressive craniectomy through coronal incision in treating severe bifrontal contusion are good, which can effectively improve the prognosis, and reduce disability and mortality of patients.
