Abstract
Objective:To explore the clinical significance of brainstem auditory evoked potential(BAEP) in the diagnosis and prognosis of transient ischemic attack of vertebral basilar artery system(VBTIA).Methods:The BAEPs of patients with VBTIA were monitored. The peak latency(PL) value of Ⅰ to Ⅴ wave and(or) interpeak latency(IPL) values of Ⅰ to Ⅲ wave, Ⅲ to Ⅴ wave and Ⅰ to Ⅴ wave, and the ratio of PL to IPL were observed. Results:The differences of the PL, IPL and abnormal rate of Ⅰ to Ⅲ/Ⅲ to Ⅴ between two groups were not statistically significant(P>0.05).The values of PL and IPL of BAEP in VBT group were significantly lower than those in posterior circulation cerebral infarction(P<0.01).Conclusions:BAEP can be used as the auxiliary examination in early diagnosis of VBTIA.The PL value of Ⅰ to Ⅴ wave and(or) the IPL values of Ⅰ to Ⅲ wave, Ⅲ to Ⅴ wave and Ⅰ to Ⅴ wave, and the ratio of PL to IPL are the main indicators, and the patients with abnormal indicators can easily transform into cerebral infarction.
