Effect of "Drum Dance" on elderly patients with type 2 diabetes

Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the curative effects of "Drum Dance" on elderly patients with type 2 diabetes.Methods:Forty participants were randomly divided into the intervention and control group, two groups were treated with drug and diet control.The intervention group were additionally trained with aerobic exercise prescription of "Drum Dance" for 12 weeks(3 times a week, aerobic exercise intensity for 50% to 70% of maximum heart rate and 50 to 60 min every time).Results:The reduction of fasting blood glucose, cholesterol, low density lipoprotein, upper arm, abdomen, shoulder, sebum thickness, waist girth, hip girth and body mass index in intervention group after intervention were significantly higher than those in control group(P<0.05).Conclusions:The "Drum Dance" exercise intervention in the treatment of type 2 diabetes is a simple, safe and effective, which should promote and advocate in the urban and rural communities and improve the quality of life in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes.
