The predictive value of testosterone/estradiol in the effect of low doses of clomiphene in the treatment of idiopathic asthenospermia

Objective:To explore the predictive value of testosterone/estradiol(T/E2) in the effect of low doses of clomiphene in the treatment of idiopathic asthenospermia.Methods:Sixty patients with idiopathic asthenospermia were treated with small dose of clomiphene,and the treatment effect was observed.The sperm density,sperm activity rate,and the levels of follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH),luteinizing hormone(LH),T,E2 and T/E2 between before and after treatment were compared.Results:The clinical cure rate and total efficiency of the clomiphene in the treatment of idiopathic asthenospermia were 26.67% and 76.67%,respectively.Compared with before treatment,the sperm density,sperm activity rate,and the levels of FSH,LH,T and T/E2 increased significantly,but the E2 level decreased significantly after treatment(PConclusions:The sperm density,sperm activity rate,and the levels of FSH and LH are good indicators in evaluating the curative effect of low dose clomiphene in the treatment of idiopathic asthenospermia.The change of T/E2 together with other indicators can also be a comprehensive evaluation index in evaluating the effect of clomiphene.
