The ultrasound diagnosis and prognosis of fetal permanent right umbilical vein

Objective: To explore the sonographic features and prognosis of fetal permanent right umbilical vein(PRUV).Methods: Eighty-four cases of fetal PRUV diagnosed by ultrasound were collected,the ultrasonic features and other deformity or umbilical cord,amniotic fluid anomalies were analyzed with relevant follow-up.Results: Eighty-four cases of fetal PRUV were found by ultrasound in 38015 pregnant cases,the detection rate was 0.22%.In these cases,77 fetuses were isolated PRUV,69 cases of them were followed up and had favorable prognosis;7 fetuses combined with malformation or other abnormalies were detected by ultrasound,among them,2 fetuses who had umbilical cord,amniotic fluid anomalies had the favorable prognosis,1 fetuse with left multicystic dysplastic kidney was underwent elective surgery,the remaining 4 cases of multiple serious malformation fetus were underwent induced labour.Conclusions: Fetal permanent right umbilical vein has unique ultrasonic characteristic,ultrasound is an effective diagnostic method,isolated PRUV accounted for the vast majority,and has the favorable prognosis,a few combined with multiple deformities and severe deformities always has the poor prognosis.
