Effect of evidence-based medicine on clinical practice teaching in pediatrics

    • Objective: To evaluate the effects of evidence-based medicine(EBM) on clinical practice teaching in pediatrics. Methods: One hundred and twenty undergraduates from class 2010 clinical medicine in a medical college were randomly divided into the control group and observation group(60 students each group). The control group and observation group were taught with the traditional clinical practice teaching model and EBM guiding clinical practice teaching model, respectively. The learning effects and teaching evaluation of students between two groups were compared. Results: The scores of the theory and skills assessment, and teaching evaluation of students in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group(P<0.01). Conclusions: The application of EBM model in clinical practice teaching in pediatrics can significantly improve the learning effects of students, and help to cultivate the clinical practice ability of student.
