Abstract
Objective:To explore the expression of programmed cell death 4(Pdcd4) gene in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, and relationship between the expression level of Pdcd4 and occurrence and development of tumor. Methods:The expressions of Pdcd4 mRNA in 60 esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissues and adjacent normal tissue were detected by real-time polymerase chain reaction, and the expressions of Pdcd4 protein in 178 esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissues and adjacent normal tissue were detected by immunohistochemical method. Results:The expression of Pdcd4 mRNA in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissue were significantly lower than that in adjacent normal tissue(P<0.01).The positive expression rate of Pdcd4 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissue(47.2%) were significantly lower than that in adjacent normal tissue(100.0%)(P<0.01).The expression of Pdcd4 was correlation with tumor differentiation, the positive expression rates of Pdcd4 in high, moderate and low differentiation esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissue were 71.4%,43.4% and 30.2%,respectively.The positive expression rate of Pdcd4 in high differentiation esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissue was higher than that in moderate and low differentiation esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissue, the difference of the positive expression rate of Pdcd4 between moderate and low differentiation esophageal squamous cell carcinoma was not statistically significant(P >0.05).The difference of the positive expression rate of Pdcd4 between age of patient, tumor size,TNM staging and N staging were not statistically significant(P >0.05).Conclusions:The abnormal expression of Pdcd4 is correlation with the occurrence and development of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
