    The relationship between the ability of self-management and professional commitment in medical students

    • Objective:To investigate the status quo of self-management ability and professional commitment in medical students for further analyzing its mutual relationship.Methods:Six hundred 5-year medical students from Bengbu Medical College were investigated using “College student self-management questionnaire” and “College student professional commitment questionnaire”.Results:The scores of self-management ability and professional commitment in medical students were (116.32±14.72) and (85.10±13.24),respectively.Compared with the poor self-management students,the proportion of the well professional commitment in medical students with well self-management was higher(P<0.01).The total score and each factor score of self-management were significantly positive correlation with the total score and each factor score of professional commitment(P<0.01).Regression analysis of career management,interpersonal relationship management,mental and body management and time management were calculated in regression equation as dependent variable of professional commitment(P<0.01).Conclusions:The medical students have good self-management and professional.commitment.Among the self-management,the career management,interpersonal relationship management,mental and body management and time management can affect the professional commitment.The effect of career management is significant,which can explain the 24.1% professional commitment.
