Clinical efficacy of the low temperature radiofrequency ablation during nasal endoscopy in the improvement of nasal ventilation function of patient with chronic rhinosinusitis

    • Objective: To investigate the clinical effects of the low temperature radiofrequency ablation during nasal endoscopy in the improvement of nasal ventilation function of patients with chronic rhinosinusitis. Methods: A total of 100 patients with chronic rhinosinusitis were randomly divided into the observation group and control group(50 cases each group). The observation group and control group were treated with low temperate radiofrequency ablation and electrical microdebrider, respectively. The intraoperative situation, nasal ventilation function and Kennedy score between two groups were compared. Results: The intraoperative hemorrhage volume and operative duration in observation group were significantly less than those in control group(P<0.01).The rhinorrhea after 1 week of treatment and scar scores after 1 week and month of treatment in observation group were significantly better than those in control group(P<0.01).The differences of the nasal polyps, edema, and crusting scores in postoperative different time-points between two groups were not statistically significant(P>0.05).The acoustic rhinometry and nasal resistance in observation group were significantly better than those in control group(P<0.01).Conclusions: The treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis with the low temperature radiofrequency ablation during nasal endoscopy is effective, which can reduce the operative difficulty, improve nasal ventilation function, and is worthy of clinical application.
