Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical application effects of the super glass-fiber splint in periodontal regeneration surgery. Methods: Twenty-seven patients with chronic periodontitis of anterior teeth, the periodontal pocket depth of which was more than or equal to 5 mm complicated with vertical bone resorption after basic treatment, were randomly divided into group A(13 cases)and group B(14 cases). The group A were treated with bone graft combined with guided tissue regeneration(GTR),the group B were treated with bone graft combined with GTR after super glass-fiber splint fixation. The clinical attachment loss(CAL) and result of X-ray in all disease teeth were recorded before operation and after 6 and 12 months of operation. Results: Compared with that in two groups before operation, the CAL of the disease teeth decreased significantly after 6 and 12 months of operation(P<0.01),the CAL of the disease teeth decreased significantly after 6 and 12 months of operation(P<0.01),the CAL of the disease teeth in group B was significantly higher than that in A group( P<0.01).The differences of the results of X-ray between two groups were not statistically significant after 6 and 12 months of operation(P>0.05).Conclusions: The super glass-fiber splint fixation before periodontal regeneration surgery can effectively promote the regeneration of periodontal tissue and consolidate the treatment effect of periodontal disease.
