The expression of vascular endothelial growth factor and kinase domain receptor in breast cancer tissue, and its correlation with local angiogenesis

    • Objective: To investigate the expression levels of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and kinase domain receptor(KDR) in breast cancer tissue, and its correlation with local angiogenesis. Methods: The expression levels of VEGF and KDR in 40 cases of breast cancer tissue and normal breast tissue were detected by immunohistochemical method. The labeled CD34 was used to detect the microvessel density(MVD).Results: The positive expression rates of VEGF and KDR,and MVD in breast cancer tissue were significantly higher than those in normal breast tissue(P<0.01).In breast cancer tissue, the expression level of VEGF was positively correlated to the expression level of KDR(P<0.01),and the VEGF and KDR were positively correlated with the MVD(P<0.01).The MVD in VEGF and KDR positive tissue was significantly higher than that in VEGF and KDR negative tissue(P<0.01).Conclusions: The expression rates of VEGF and KDR in breast cancer tissue increase, which is involved in the formation of tumor vessel.
