The clinical curative efficacy of adriamycin peripheral nerve block in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia

Objective: To evaluate the clinical curative efficacy of adriamycin peripheral nerve block in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia.Methods: Eighty patients with trigeminal neuralgia were divided into the anhydrous ethanol group and adriamycin group using random number table method(40 cases each group).The clinical efficacy,visual analog scale(VAS) score and adverse reaction between two groups were compared.Results: The clinical curative efficacy in adriamycin group was higher than that in anhydrous ethanol group(P<0.05).Compared before operation,the VAS scores in two groups decreased significantly after 1 week,1 month,6 months and 1 year of operation(P<0.01),and the decreasing degree of which in adriamycin group was significantly higher that in anhydrous ethanol group(P<0.01).The differences of the nausea and vomiting,dizziness,headache,regional numbness and recurrence rate between two groups were not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusions: The clinical curative efficacy of adriamycin peripheral nerve block in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia is distinct,which can relieve pain,does not increase the incidence of adverse reaction,and is worthy of popularization and application.
