    Practice of interdisciplinary service-learning in medical students

    • Objective: To know the influencing factors of the local villager health by interdisciplinary service-learning practice,and investigate the effects of service-learning on professional knowledge and skills in medical College students.Methods: The service-learning practice in 30 undergraduate students from clinical medicine,nursing,and pharmacology were implemented for 3 weeks according to the preparation,action,reflection and evaluation procedures.The learning effects were analyzed by reflecting writing after providing health service for local villagers.Results: The diet,drug and chronic disease were the key problems for detrimental to the health of villagers,targeted health education was implentmented for villagers.The reflecting writing of students showed that the service-learning improved the respect and communication in different specialities,enhanced professional knowledge and practical skills,and increased confidence and motivation in cooperating with other majors.Conclusions: The interprofessional service-learning practice can contribute to improve the professional knowledge and skills of students,which can be applied in the future medical education.
