    Screening of prostate cancer in Qijiang and its clinical significance

    • Objective: To investigate the clinical significance of the health screening of prostate cancer in middle and old aged males.Methods: The prostate cancer in males with 50 and more than 50 years old were screened in Qijiang.The identified prostate cancer patients were set as the screening group,the prostate cancer patients with lower urinary tract symptoms,hematuria,urinary retention and ostealgia were set as the clinical group.The age,serum prostate specific antigen and prostate volume,clinical and pathological grading and treatment of prostate cancer between two groups were compared.Results: The average age,serum prostate specific antigen,prostate volume,pathological and clinical staging in screening group were significantly lower than those in clinical group(P<0.05 to P<0.01).The number of patients treated with radical prostatectomy in screening group were significantly more than that in clinical group(P<0.01).Conclusions: The health screening of prostate cancer in middle and old aged males can early diagnose the prostate cancer,provide more treatment scheme and best treatment time.
