Effect of different extracts from Psoralea corylifolia L and Nutmeg on the visceral hypersensitivity rats with IBS

Objective: To compare the therapeutic effects of different extracts from Psoralea corylifolia L and Nutmeg on the visceral hypersensitivity rats with irritable bowel syndrome(IBS).Methods: Forty-eight newborn SD rats were randomly divided into six groups(8 rats each group).Except the normal group,the rest groups were treated with Mother-Child separation combined with acetic acid enema to establish the visceral hypersensitivity rat model.At the beginning of the sixth week after establishing model,all model rats were irrigated using the water double-extract,alcohol extract and water extract from Psoralea corylifolia L and Nutmeg,and positive medicine of pinaverium bromide once a day for 2 weeks,respectively.The pathological changes and visceral hypersensitivity-related indicators were observed in IBS rats.The expressions of CRF and CFRR1 were determined by immunofluorescence technique.Results: The water double-extract,alcohol extract and water extract from Psoralea corylifolia L and Nutmeg could enhance the reflex threshold of abdomen retraction(P<0.05 to P<0.01),and decrease the levels of CRF and RFR1 in colon in visceral hypersensitivity rats.Conclusions: Different extracts from Psoralea corylifolia L and Nutmeg have certain treatment effect on the visceral hypersensitivity rats,and the effect of alcohol extract is the best.
