Comparison of the clinical effect between the synchronization chemoradiotherapy and sequential chemoradiotherapy in the treatment of stage Ⅲ non-small cell lung cancer

    • Objective: To evaluate the short-term effects and adverse reactions between synchronization chemoradiotherapy and sequential chemoradiotherapy in the treatment of stage Ⅲ non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Methods: Seventy-two patients with stage Ⅲ NSCLC were randomly divided into the synchronization chemoradiotherapy group and sequential chemoradiotherapy group(36 cases each group). The synchronization chemoradiotherapy group were treated with the intensity-modulated radiotherapy combined with docetaxel and cisplatin(DP) chemotherapy for 2 cycles, then chemotherapy for 2 cycles. The sequential chemoradiotherapy group were treated with DP chemotherapy for 2 cycles, then intensity-modulated radiotherapy, and DP chemotherapy for 2 cycles at last. Results: The effective rates of treatment in the synchronization chemoradiotherapy group and sequential chemoradiotherapy group were 75.0% and 38.9%,respectively,the difference of which was statistically significant(P<0.05).The main adverse reactions in two groups included myelosuppression, radiation pneumonia, radiation esophagitis and gastrointestinal reaction. The difference of the incidence of side effect in grade Ⅲ to Ⅳ patients between synchronization chemoradiotherapy group and sequential chemoradiotherapy group was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusions: The treatment effect of patients with grade Ⅲnon-small cell lung cancer with synchronization chemoradiotherapy is better than that with sequential chemoradiotherapy, and the adverse reaction can be tolerated in synchronization chemoradiotherapy group, which is worthy of further study and application.
