Analysis of the pre-diabetes status and its influence factors of left-behind villagers in Lu'an

Objective: To investigate the pre-diabetes status of left-behind villagers from Lu'an for providing the measures in preventing and controlling the diabetes.Methods: The left-behind villagers(40 to 70 years old) from 18 administrative villages in Lu'an were randomly selected using the cluster sampling method,and investigated by questionnaire,and the blood glucose,height and body mess index of 3 546 villagers were measured.Results: The prevalence of pre-diabetes was 25.61%,and which in men and women were 25.14% and 25.86%,respectively.The awareness rate of the related knowledge of diabetes was low.The results of multiariable logistic regression analysis showed that people born after 1962 were the protection factors,the high body mass index was the risk factor(P<0.05 to P<0.01).Conclusions: Strengthening the health education of left-behind villagers and formulating the reasonable prevention measures can reduce or retard the transform of pre-diabetes to diabetes.
