Expression of Maspin gene in human nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell line with different metastatic behavior

    • Objective: To explore the differences of the expression levels of Maspin mRNA and protein in 5 kinds of human nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell lines with different metastatic behavior, and investigate its correlation for providing the theory basis in studying the metastasis mechanism of nasopharynx cancer and predicting clinical risk. Methods: The SUNE-1-5-8F,SUNE-1,CNE-2Z,CNE-1 and SUNE-1-6-10B human nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell lines with different metastatic behavior were cultivated in vitro. The expression levels of Maspin mRNA and protein in 5 kinds of human nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell lines were detected using RT-PCR and Western blot. Results: The differences of the expressions of Maspin gene in SUNE-1-5-8F,SUNE-1,CNE-1 and SUNE-1-6-10B cell lines were not statistically significant(P>0.05),and the Maspin expression in CNE-2Z cell line could not be detected. The expressions of Maspin mRNA and protein were consistent. The total expression contents of Maspin mRNA and protein in human nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell lines with different metastatic behavior were different(P<0.05),and the expression of which did not change with the increasing of metastatic behavior of cancer cells. Conclusions: The mRNA and protein expressions of Maspin gene in human nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell lines with different metastatic behavior are different, and the Maspin expression maybe be no-correlation with the metastatic potential of nasopharynx cancer cells.
