Comparative study of the value between TI-RADS scoring and ultrasound elastography grading in the diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid nodules

    • Objective: To compare the value between TI-RADS scoring and ultrasound elastography grading in the diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid nodules. Methods: Among 90 nodules from 64 patients, the data of 68 benign nodules and 22 malignant nodules identified by pathology were analyzed. The routine ultrasound and ultrasound elasticity imaging of 90 nodules were examined, the results of two examination methods were compared with pathology findings. Results: TI-RADS scoring method showed that 69 nodules were benign, and 21 nodules were malignant.Elastography results showed that 67 nodules were benign, and 23 nodules were malignant.Compared with the pathology results, the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of the TI-RADS scoring and elastography were 90.9%,98.5% and 96.7%,and 86.4%,94.1% and 92.2%,respectively.Conclusions: Both TI-RADS scoring method and ultrasound elastography grading method are valuable method to diagnose benign and malignant thyroid nodules.TI-RADS scoring method has more unity of objective standard, higher accuracy and wider application range.
