Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical value of high frequency color ultrasonography in the diagnosis of phyllodes tumor of the breast(PTB),and improve the understanding of the disease. Methods: Twenty small volume malignant PTB female patients diagnosed by pathology were examined using high frequency color ultrasonography. Results: Among 20 PTB patients,5 cases tumors were lobular,14 cases tumors were oval, and 1 case tumor was irregular. The boundary of tumor in 18 cases were clear, and 2 cases were unclear. The attenuation, unchanged and enhancement of the internal echo of tumor were 0 case,5 cases and 15 cases, respectively. The cystic change in 6 cases and calcification in 2 cases were found. The results of color Doppler flow imaging showed that the blood flow signals in all patients could be detected, which included class Ⅰ in 9 cases, class Ⅱ in 7 cases and class Ⅲ in 4 cases. The average of the systolic peak velocity and resistance index of blood flow in 20 cases were (19.35±6.50) cm and (0.72±0.04),respectively.The pathological types of 20 cases included benign tumor in 9 cases, borderline tumor in 5 cases and malignant in 6 cases. There was not significant corresponding relationship between the blood flow signal class and PTB pathological type. Conclusions: The high frequency color ultrasonography can clearly display the characteristic sonogram of the small volume malignant PTB,which can provide the high clinical value in the differential diagnosis and selecting appropriate clinical treatment program for tumor.
