Analysis of the sleep quality and its relative impact factors in a medical academy students of Hebei

    • Objective: To investigate the sleep status and its impact factors in a medical academy students. Methods: The medical academy students were investigated using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI) and self-made sleep impact factors questionnaire by stratified random sampling surveys. Results: The total score of students PSQI was(8.13±2.65),the detection rate of sleep problem was 54.85%.The scores of the sleep time and sleep disorders in boy students were lower than that in girl students(P<0.05 and P<0.01),and the score of the length of sleep time in boy students was higher than that in girl students(P<0.01).The differences of the score of each item of sleep quality between urban and rural students were not statistically significant(P>0.05).The scores of the sleep quality and sleep medication in medical specialty students were higher than that in nursing specialty students(P<0.05 and P<0.01).The scores of academic pressure, friendship(including classmate relation),mobile internet dependency and physical illness in boy students were lower than that in girl students(P<0.05 to P<0.01),but the score of physical training in boy students was significantly higher than that in girl students(P<0.01).The score of the economic pressure in rural student was higher than that in urban student(P<0.05),the difference of the score of other impact factors of sleep quality from different area students was not statistically significant(P>0.05).The scores of the sleep quality of student parents, specialty pressure, academic pressure and physical training in medical specialty students were significantly higher than those in nursing specialty students(P<0.01),but the scores of mobile internet dependency, hunger and physical illness in medical specialty students were significantly lower than those in nursing specialty students(P<0.01),and sleep medication in medical specialty students were higher than that in nursing specialty students(P<0.01).The total score of the impact factors was positively correlated with the total score of PSQI(P<0.01).Except the teacher-student relationship, the total score of other 14 factors was positively correlated with the total score of PSQI(P<0.01).The coefficient correlation of specialty was the highest(r=0.199),and the coefficient correlation of hunger was the lowest(r=0.084).Conclusions: The sleep quality and mental health education of aca demy students should be emphasized and improved, which can be achieved in life style, interpersonal relationship, school administration and psychological counseling.
