The clinical value of the ultrasound in the diagnosis of thyroid morphology in patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis treated with danggui liuhuang decoction

Objective:To investigate the clinical value of the ultrasound in the diagnosis of thyroid morphology in patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis treated with danggui liuhuang decoction.Methods:Ninety-two patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis were randomly divided into the observation group and control group(46 cases each group).The control group were treated with low iodine diet,and the observation group were treated with danggui liuhuang decoction combined with low iodine diet for 3 months.The size,shape,echogenicity characteristics and blood flow of thyroid gland were analyzed using ultrasonography before and after treatment.Results:Before treatment,of the differences of the length,width and thickness of bilateral thyroid lobes and isthmus,limitation of echo decreasing,diffuse low echo,diffuse grid-like low echo,ratio of lacy leaf abnormal sonogram and blood flow(the maximum blood flow and blood resistance) between two groups were not statistically significant(P>0.05).After three months of treatment,the ratio of recovering to normal sound image in observation group and control group were 80.43% and 58.70%,respectively,and the sound image characteristics in observation group was significantly better than that in control group(P<0.01).After treatment,the size and blood flow indicators in two groups were improved,but the improvement degree of which in observation group was better than that in control group(P<0.01).Conclusions:The treatment of Hashimoto's thyroiditis with danggui liuhuang decoction has certain clinical effect,the Hashimoto's thyroiditis can be diagnosed by thyroid morphology detected by ultrasound before and after treatment.
