Clinical features and drug resistance of pathogenic microorganisms in patients with severe infection from intensive care unit of primary hospitals

    • Objective:To investigate the clinical characteristics and distribution regularity of drug resistance of pathogenic microorganisms in patients from intensive care unit(ICU) and general ward, and provide the evidence in formulating the measures of controlling infection in primary hospitals. Methods:One hundred and eight infection patients from ICU and 108 patients from general ward were randomly selected. The bacterial culture of blood, urine, sputum, feces, ascites and other secretion were examined, and the distribution of infected sites, pathogenic microbial species and drug resistance in all cases were retrospectively analyzed. Results:The positive rates of Candida albicans,Enterobacter cloacae,Candida tropicalis and Aspergillus niger in general ward patients were lower than those in ICU(P < 0.05 to P < 0.01),and the difference of the positive rate of other bacterial strains was not statistically significant(P>0.05).The drug resistance of ampicillin and levofloxacin in ICU were higher than those in general ward(P < 0.05 to P < 0.01).Conclusions:Because of the speciality of primary hospitals, the incidence rate of drug resistance of severe infection in ICU is higher.Controlling the contamination, implementing the sterilization measures, establishing the monitoring and management system in ICU and enlarging investment in constructing ICU of primary hospital are necessary.
