Efficacy and safety of hot gutta percha vertical pressure filling technology in the treatment of C shaped root canal in mandibular second molar

    • Objective:To investigate the efficacy and safety of hot gutta percha vertical pressure filling technology in the treatment of C shaped root canal in mandibular second molar.Methods:Eighty-four patients with C shaped root canal lesion in mandibular second molar diagnosed by X-ray were randomly divided into the control group and observation group using numerical digit method(42 cases each group). The C shaped root canal in control group and observation group were treated with the conventional cold gutta percha lateral pressure filling technology and hot gutta percha vertical pressure filling technology, respectively. The clinical effects and incidence of complications after root canal treatment between two groups were compared. Results:The clinical efficacy in observation group was better than that in control group(P<0.01).The proper fill rate in observation group(92.86%) was higher than that in control group(71.43%)(P<0.05).The filling root time, filling material and distance between apical region in observation group were significantly better than those in control group(P<0.01).The incidence rate of complications in observation group (9.52%) was significantly lower than that in control group(33.33%)(P<0.01).Conclusions:Hot gutta percha vertical pressure filling technology for C shaped root canal in mandibular second molars can improve the toothache, gingival swelling and other symptoms, and restore the normal chewing function of teeth. The closeness in dental filling material and apical area are good, and the incidence of postoperative complications is low.
