Abstract
Objective:To investigate the expression of amplified in breast cancer 1(AIB1) protein in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, and its clinical significance. Methods:The expressions of AIB1 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissue(60 samples) and normal esophageal mucosa tissue(30 samples) were detected using immunohistochemical technique, and the correlation between the AIB1 expression and clinicopathology was analyzed. Results:The positive rate of AIB1 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissue was 53.3%,the AIB1 protein expression in normal esophageal mucosa was negative or weak positive, and the difference of the AIB1 expression between two kinds of tissues was statistically significant(P<0.01).The differences of the AIB1 expression in different differentiation, lymph node metastasis and clinical stages tumors were statistically significant(P<0.05 to P<0.01).The differences of the AIB1 expression in different ages and sexuality patients, and invasive depth tumor were not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusions:Abnormal high expression of AIB1 protein in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma may affect the occurrence, development, invasion and metastasis process of tumor.
