    Status quo investigation of general practitioners in Anhui province

    • Objective: To investigate and analyze the status quo and main problems of general practitioners in Anhui province.Methods: Eight cities(including Hefei,Bengbu,Wuhu,Huangshan,Fuyang,Lu'an,Chuzhou and Anqing),368 village clinics and 167 township hospitals and 930 general practitioners from Anhui province were randomly investigated using self-made questionnaire.Results: Among 930 general practitioners,410 people and 520 people were township and villageship general practitioners,respectively.The difference of gender between two groups was not statistically significant(P>0.05).The age composition,degree and monthly income of general practitioners in village clinics were higher,lower and lower than those in township hospital(P<0.01).The overall satisfaction of salary,post competency and training rate of general practitioners in village clinics were lower,lower and higher than those in township hospital(P<0.01).Conclusions: The quantity and quality of general practitioners in Anhui province can not meet the medical need.The general practitioners in village clinics are high age,low degree,less talent,weak vocational training,low income,low work satisfaction,no obvious effect of performance appraisal and low post competency.
