Effect of family follow-up care mode on the prevention of swallowing disorder and quality of life in stroke patients

Objective: To investigate the effects of family follow-up care mode on the prevention of swallowing disorder and quality of life in stroke patients. Methods: One hundred and twenty stroke patients were divided into the observation group(n=60) and control group(n=60) according to random number table.The control group and observation group were treated with routine guidance and family follow-up care at discharge,respectively.Two groups were intervened for 6 months.The swallowing function and quality of life improvement between two groups were compared. Results: The incidence rates of swallowing dysfunction,aspiration pneumonia,malnutrition in observation group were lower than those in control group,while the compliance of swallowing function training and satisfaction in observation group were higher than those in control group(P<0.05 to P<0.01).The scores of psychological dimension,physiological dimension,social adaptability and quality of life in two groups after intervention were higher than those in before intervention(P<0.01).The scores of psychological dimension,physiological dimension,social adaptability and quality of life in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group(P<0.01). Conclusions: Family follow-up care mode can effectively promote the rehabilitation of swallowing dysfunction and improve the quality of life of stroke patients.
