Effect of the nerve growth factor on nerve dysfunction and osteopontin expression in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage

    • Objective:To explore the clinical effects of the nerve growth factor(NGF) in the treatment of intracerebral hemorrhage, and effects of NGF on the nerve dysfunction,Barthel index(BI) score and osteopontin(OPN) expression.Methods:Eighty-four patients with intracerebral hemorrhage were randomly divided into the control group and observation group using random number method(42 cases each group). The control group was treated with conventional method combined with citicoline, and the observation group was additionally treated with NGF based on conventional method for 2 weeks. The National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS) and BI scores,OPN expression level and clinical efficiency between two groups were analyzed and compared after treatment. Results:The differences of the NIHSS and BI scores, and OPN expression level before treatment between two groups were not statistically significant(P>0.05).After treatment, the NIHSS score and OPN expression level in two groups significantly decreased, and the decreasing degree of those in observation group was significantly higher than that in control group(P<0.01).After treatment, the BI scores in two groups significantly increased, and the increasing degree of which in observation group was significantly higher than that in control group(P<0.01).The total effective rate of treatment in observation group(90.5%) was higher than that in control group(71.4%)(P<0.05).The curative effect in observation group was better than that in control group(P<0.05).Conclusions:The effect of NGF in the treatment of intracerebral hemorrhage is significant and safe, which can effectively improve the clinical symptoms and nerve dysfunction, reduce the OPN level, promote the recovery of patients, and is worthy of promotion.
