Analysis of clinical effect of oral care intervention on periodontal health in pregnant women in Futian District of Shenzhen

Objective:To investigate the clinical effects of the oral care intervention on periodontal health in pregnant women.Methods:The periodontal health in 1 176 pregnant women of Futian District from January 2014 to November 2015 was investigated.The periodontal health in 560 pregnant women was compared between before and after oral care intervention,and the care effect was observed.Results:The low education level,low monthly income,using non-drug toothpaste,brushing teeth once a day,brushing time less than 1 min,body mass index more than 25.0 kg/m²,non-seeing a doctor before 1 year of pregnancy,no habit of cleaning teeth,unknowing the brushing teeth rule and non-using mouthwash were the risk factors of the periodontal problems in pregnant women(P<0.05 to P<0.01).The oral care intervention could significantly improve the periodontal health of pregnant women(P<0.01).Conclusions:Based on the periodontal health care,strengthening the oral care intervention can further reduce the incidence of periodontal problems in pregnant women.
